How to Create a Facebook Business Page

Script:

Hey everyone!

My name’s Yeshmin and today we’re going to create a Facebook business page for our store Mikes Leather. There are countless benefits to having a Facebook business page for your business. For starters, it will help your customers find out more about you, where you are located if you have an address, your opening hours and your contact details. But this is just the tip of the iceberg. Having a Facebook Business account is essential for the marketing of your business.

We’ll get more into that soon, but first, let’s learn how to create one!
From your Facebook homepage, you want to navigate to the top right-hand side of the page and click on the drop-down on the end here. We then want to click create page. You will then see an overview of two options. You can create a page for a business or brand or create a page for a community or public figure.

Mikes leather store is a business and brand so we’re going to Get Started and click on that one. From here, we’ll type in our details. For the page name, I’ll enter the name of our business. Let’s assume Mikes Leather has his own shop and online store, I’m going to click ‘Shopping and retail’ for the category’.

If you have a shop or multiple locations, you can enter this in the address section. You can opt not to show an address, but because Mikes Leather has a physical address, we’re going to keep this box ticked.

Let’s continue. We now have the option of adding a profile picture. I cannot stress enough how important it is to add a profile picture. This will make or break a potential customer’s first impression of you. We suggest having your company or brands logo as your profile picture. This is a great way for customers to remember and recognize you. You should keep this consistent across all platforms whether it be FB, Instagram or Twitter.

We’re going to add our company logo here. We now have the option to add a cover photo. This will be seen as a banner across the top of your business page. Again this is a great marketing tool to take advantage of as it is one of the first things people will see when they click on your page. So now I’m going to add our custom made banner. As you can see, it just provides the opportunity to give your customers more information.

We’ve created our Facebook Business page, but we’re not done yet! We now need to provide some basic information about our business.  Here I want to click on these 3 little lots which will give us a drop down with more options. I’m going to click edit page info. From here I can add provide people with more information about my business.

You can enter your phone number if you have one set up. I’m going to enter our website and click save. Same with our e-mail address and then save again. If you haven’t entered your address in already, you can do it here. This automatically creates a map with a pin dropped where your business is.

I’m now going to add the opening hours of our business so our customers know the times we are opened and closed. We can also enter the price range of our products here. This is really handy if you’re a restaurant or cafe. You can also utilise this option if you’re an online retailer as well.

We’re now presented with an updated page. You can provide as much or as little information as you’d like here, but you want to provide customers with as much information as possible. We definitely want to add a little blurb about ourselves in the about section. I’m just going to write something short in here and click save.

Now as you can see if we search for Mikes Leather, we now come up in searches. And that’s how you create a Facebook Business Page. Note that you need to have a Facebook Business page to create ads and sponsored posts.

Our next video will tell you how you utilise your FB business account to sponsor your posts, so stay tuned!
